As a child I watched my mother tend to her garden and care for our household pets. She was my girl scout leader and encouraged us to go camping, listen to nature, and learn about the environment. In high school, I took my first environmental course. From there my curiosity blossomed. In college I dedicated my time to environment-related courses and tailored my studies around a career as an environmental scientist. I focused on projects related to my interests and developed a better understanding of my surrounding environment and how it related to economic diversity.
