Day 3: I woke up alone in my room to a phone call at 7:30 AM. Diego, our guide was checking in on me and giving me instructions on how to leave the hotel by myself. Oh Boy! I really have no clue what he actually said because I am pretty sure that I was still asleep during that time. Getting ready to go was a nightmare. I must have repacked a dozen times making sure everything was in order. But my mom was way more freaked out then I was, texting and calling me twelve times a minute. As I was up much earlier than expected, I went to the restaurant at the hotel and ate from the buffet. Afterwards, I walked across the street to Iguana Park. The Terrestrial Iguanas were fascinating to look at. Crowds were feeding the sunbathing Iguanas while some others were still hiding in the treetops. After a few minutes I walked back to the hotel and got a taxi to the Guayaquil Airport. The flight went well, we left early and I slept through most of the one hour plane ride. As we landed I was rushed into a customs line to wait. After what seemed like a lifetime, I was escorted to a bus. The short ride brought us from one side of the dry desert like Island of Baltra to the other where we then took a boat to cross into Santa Cruz. The ocean water was crystal clear. Five minutes into our boat ride, we came to the other side where another escort took me to his truck. Twenty minutes into our drive I noticed the desert like area fade into a forest. Along the way the forest grew dense with cows and villages embedded within it.

Fortunately for us, our connecting flight from Colombia was also delayed so we were able to catch it just in time. As we descended into Ecuador I watched the flickering lights and busyness of Guayaquil.
After we finally left the airport, our guide Diego greeted us and brought us to a bus. On our way to the hotel, I was informed that as I was the last student to join the trip, I would be flying alone to the Galapagos Islands the next morning!! AAHHHHH!
